The Battle Creek Campus of Western Michigan University strongly supports the "Return to Learn" initiative of Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm. As the Governor said on November 4, 2005, "A college degree can be the ticket to a bigger paycheck for our citizens and a stronger economy for our state. To attract the kind of businesses we need to grow Michigan's economy, Michigan needs to lead the nation in the number of college-graduates we have in our state."

In addition, the Battle Creek Campus supports the findings of the Lt. Governor's Commission on Higher Education and Economic Growth that was issued earlier in the year. Both our Governor and Lt. Governor urge Michigan citizens to complete Bachelors degrees.  

It is the mission of WMU in Battle Creek to help area residents achieve advanced higher education with Masters and Doctoral degrees through the WMU Kendall Center. To support the Governor's efforts and to help west Michigan residents, Battle Creek Campus staff are available to answer questions about higher education in general, and about how best to complete a Bachelors degree now in order to pursue an advanced degree option later.  

The Battle Creek Campus believes that an advanced degree will become an increasingly important way for bright and highly motivated individuals to differentiate themselves from the large number of folks who now have, or soon will have, Bachelors degrees. Advanced higher education will open doors to leadership positions in the expanding economy, and will lead to positions with higher compensation and better benefits.  WMU in Battle Creek offers more than one dozen Masters and Doctoral programs locally.
