Center for Counseling and Psychological Services

Master's and doctoral degree graduate students affiliated with the department provide professional counseling and psychological services at CCPS. Graduate student counselors are supervised by faculty members who are professional counselors and/or psychologists.

Faculty members and graduate students also conduct research at CCPS. Special facilities and advanced technology are available to support research into many interactive processes.

Clients

Counseling and psychological services are provided at low cost to children, adolescents, and adults residing in southwestern Michigan. All matters discussed are considered confidential.

Services are provided to persons regardless of social class, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, age, gender, race, ethnicity, disability, or level of education.

Ethical standards of the American Psychological Association and the American Counseling Association govern behavior of all student counselors, center staff members, and supervisors.

While most clients are self-referred, referrals from other professionals and agencies are possible. Contact CCPS for additional information.

Services

Counseling

Individual counseling for persons experiencing personal, educational, or vocational concerns is the primary service offered by the staff throughout the year. Other services such as marital/family therapy, group counseling, and psychological assessment are also offered. When problems presented are not within the staff's scope of practice, appropriate referral sources are identified for clients. View a movie clip (MOV, 174 KB) about the services available.
