Current WMU students and alumni may gain access to a lab computer by signing in at the Main Information Desk.
Labs are considered open labs at all times, unless a class is scheduled for the lab. If the class scheduled in the lab has an enrollment of less than 20, the unused machines are available for non-class members to use quietly during class time, unless other restrictions are arranged in advance.
Computer technicians are generally not available at the Grand Rapids Centers. Some computer related questions may be answered by Main Information Desk staff, but most software application questions are directed to the OIT HelpDesk.
University Library staff make regular visits to the Grand Rapids Center to instruct individual students and/or entire classes on electronic access to Library materials and services. For questions regarding electronic access to Library materials please contact Michelle Behr. Faculty may schedule an electronic Library access instructional segment during regular class times by contacting Pam Emery.
Courses scheduled to be held exclusively in a computer lab will be classes that require extensive, hands-on, individual, weekly use of the computer by students enrolled in the class. Classroom assignments are made by Pam Emery.
Faculty scheduled in other classrooms, but who need to include occasional computer lab experience during regular class time must reserve computer lab time in advance through Pam Emery.
Faculty assigned to teach in a computer lab who anticpate frequent need for a VCR/TV monitor must reserve that equipment for all expected use dates prior to the start of the semester/session through Gladys Sims.
