Requesting an article while searching an electronic database
You may also make requests for books and articles directly from the index or database in which you find the citation for the item that you want. This will save you from having to retype the citation. To request materials from a database, begin by searching the database of your choice and display the citation for the item you want.

- Look for the gold Find It @ WMU button. This is usually near the top of the citation. In some databases you will have to scroll to the end of the citation to find the button.
- Click the Find It @ WMU button. You will see a small pop-up box. In the top of the box you will see the citation for the item.
- You should see the following link: "If not available at WMU, Faculty, Staff, and Students may request it via Interlibrary Loan". You will use this link for Interlibrary Loan whether or not the database indicates that the library owns the material. Click the link for Interlibrary Loan.
- Another pop-up box will appear. Toward the bottom of this pop up box you will see text boxes with a red border
- Select the Username box and enter your Username. Select the Password box and enter your password.
- Click the Submit Request to ILLiad button. The system will respond with a Thank You and a transaction number for each request. Please take note of the transaction number.
- Close the pop up box by clicking the X in the upper right corner of the box. If you find more citations you would like to request, you may repeat the process. Because you have already entered your user name and password, you will not be asked for that information again during your session.
